Première semaine à Paris!
Bonjour to all of you!
I miss you all so much already! It's about 12:30pm our time now. I wish you were here, it and the people are so beautiful. I have explored so many places already during my first week here. The first day we arrived we took a long walk to a nearby shopping mall/ center type thing, and the shops were so original! It came out into a square with alot of street vendors and music. Made me miss new orleans! Everything is working out great over here. I was stressed earlier because everyone seemed to have a way to use their cell phones, which really isn't a big deal to me but i couldn't figure out how to use my computer, so i was getting very nervous on how to contact, but guess what! When i got back to my room i was informed that They are having a special deal this week only at the Fiap where we stay that if you pay 20 euros you get unlimited internet access in your room until the end of june! so i went ahead a did it! yayyy! How amazing right??
The flight was wonderful, we only had one bit of turbulence during the night but it was nothing. The girl next to me ended up being really great! She saw me 24 walks in paris book from schy so struck up a convo... her name was Gabriela, she told me lots of neat places to go that locals go to! She really made the flight easier, and was interesting to talk to! My seat was the only one who's headphones didnt plug into the tv (in the whoooole plane go figure, there was some type of glitch) so we shared hers to watch a movie! She was a very hopeful person so i was very comforted.
The room is very clean and modern looking, and looks out onto the courtyard/bar!
it is so beautiful! The first night we went to the eiffel tower, there are no words to express how magnificent and breathtaking it is. It sparkles every hour on the hour. It rly does give u an amazing feeling. there were
carousels next to us that we rode and the siene river is right next to it and there was a rollerblading competition with music and djs, it was just a happy and fun scene. The line is always enormous but Laura Lori and Elizabeth were able to go up a few days later, It was magnificent as it looks. The girl i
sat next to on the plane recommended us take a boat ride on the seine
because it goes under everything, its about 10euro. I'm meeting amazing people, everyone is so wondeful! We had a dinner and got to meet alot of
the other kids here from all over, schools such as LSU nashville kentucky and boston.
The first day was literally 3 days long, thursday night i got 5 hours of sleep ,
the plane one hour, then after the eiffel tower a few of us went out. I dont
know what people mean when they say the french are snobby, everyone i've met so far is very accomodating! Everyone here gets along great, the past few nights we've tried to find different places, and met alot of locals. Every night i've been so exhausted from walking MILES AND MILES but i end up having a blast and being so happy i went!
Laura's friend that lives here comes back in the middle of june and come to find out he emailed her and lives near to us! i can't wait for him to come.
In just the last few days we've been to a perfume museum, Notre dame,(Gorgeous) the Louvre(Beautiful yet overwhelming) There are 4 levels in the Louvre, but we knocked out the decorative arts section, the greek sculptures, and of course the Mona Lisa. I know im using alot of adjectives but there are alsoo no words to describe it. The mass at Notre Dame was beautiful and there were religiious old elegant french women sitting next to us and they were so friendly! We went to the Gregorian mass so it was a mix of opera and gothic music and organs. They used alot of the same music as us. We had a scavenger hunt sunday and got a chance to learn the metro. I'm already getting metro savvy from just the past couple of days if i do say so myself. Theres a neat supermarket right next to us so we got hangers and stuff for our closet, they have everything i need if i run out (they do sell hairspray!)
We've taken day trips to Lyon to see the fashion school and silk mills, and Chantilly to see castles. I wish I could blog everyday but we have just been so busy! Today, (6/4/10 ) we are going to a few shops around palais royal area near the louvre (H&M) !! This weekend we are free so I'm thinking I will get alot of shopping accomplished! We are also taking a bike tour of the city and going to Musee Pompidou. It should be very exciting, I'll tell you all about it!
Sending allll my love a continent away--
Liz
Cheers!
